Literally a bit of everything, excepting country, contemporary pop, reggae, grunge, techno, and opera.

i listen to just about everything too, it happens in phases. Right now at lot of FP of course but also raconteurs, jimmy gnecco, asteroids galaxy tour, milburn, reverend & the makers and beastie boys haha.
nirvana is always good, with a little offspring and nofx thrown in now and then.

classical, opera and jazz are sort of forced on me as my father, sister-in-law en brother work in those areas. apart from a few specific songs i wouldn't put it on myself, but i don't mind.

only stuff i really don't like is the whole grunting thing, i don't get it. and the really hard hardcore which was a rage in holland several years back didn't do it for me either.

Grunting thing? Are you saying that primates are forming bands? LOL. Is that some new tribal genre of music, where they smack things with sticks?

I like most of music except country. ;) And same as my headbang buddy - i could live without bands like tokio hotel :D :D :D

i always have periods of different bands or kinds of music... for example when i discoverd RATM, i was lsitening to their CDs over and over, looking for rarities, live recordings etc. Then i went to EODM gig, which led to QOTSA, Kyuss, Lanegan (who's still my No 1), Dulli, Sweethead, Screaming trees, A perfect circle...... ;)

My friend gave me Ulver CD last week, i loved it and ask him for some more music he listens to... now, thanks to him, i'm discovering bands like Alcest or God is an astronaut.. which is a bit different to music i was listening to before...

My favourite bands besides FP are Marillion and the Dave Matthews Band, and I find myself listening to the Editors a lot lately.
I can also recommend some Dutch bands and singers: GEM, A Day's Work, Tim Knol, Anne Soldaat. They would be great as an opening act for the fall tour (hint hint ;-)).

Muse are my next favourite band behind Fiction Plane but I will listen to most music EXCEPT dance music. I really can't abide that NOISE - I prefer live instruments. I definitely prefer rock to most other genres but will also listen to good lyricists, I quite like Eminem, although he is one of the few rappers I will listen to. I like the Foo Fighters, the Police, Living Colour, Duran Duran, Ian Dury, Joe Satriani. Steve Vai (yup, I loves them geetars!) Kings of Leon, Maroon 5 (early stuff) , Michael Jackson, Soulwax, Fishbone, Neil Young (early again), Nirvana, Tenacious D. That sorta thang!

@Moena - is that death metal you mean?! I was at a gig once where the singer was SOOOO into what he was roaring/growling/guttarally screaming that he puked all over the stage. Nice. Common too apparently. Never developed a taste for it myself either. Death metal - not the puking that is. Although don't have much of a taste for that either!!!! They were the support band - imagine being the main band coming onstage after THAT! BTW - your description was ACE!!!!
